The Uniqueness of VILLI Products

VILLI products are the result of very intensive research and development and are manufactured using a procedure that has international patent protection. The result is walls and floor coverings made of glass with incredible colours and optimal precision.

All VILLI Products, from the smallest mosaic (1" x 1") to the largest tile (24" x 24") are calibrated and can be laid in a modular combination. Since all VILLI products are manufactured from 8mm thick roughcast glass (by Pilkington®), they may be combined with ceramics, stoneware or natural stone and hence as particularly attractive as design elements. The vast range of brilliant colours and modern formats in wall and floor coverings cater for all design requirements.

The patented production process

A colored paste suitable for silk-screen printing is produced from organic colors comprising selected metal oxide pigments, glass frits and oil in our laboratory in accordance with the highest quality standards This paste is used to print the roughcast glass plates. In a second printing process the color coated glass plates are printed with a white protective cover and pre-dried by air flushing during a 24-hour period. This colored glass then undergoes a tunnel furnace process during which the imprinted color pigments are melted into the glass. This procedural step creates homogeneous colored glass as semi-finished goods. The progress of the melting process, which is subject to different parameters for temperature curves, is continuously monitored electronically, thus ensuring that the semi-finished goods are tension free and can be subjected to further processing without any problems. After a further quality control (quality of surface finish, tone quality) these semi-finished goods are sawed to create mosaics using high precision diamond wheels or are made into tiles using grinders. After a further washing and drying process, the components that are produced to their final size (mosaics, borders, tiles) are sent through the furnace again for their edges to be fire polished.

Highest standards of quality control

On cooling, all components undergo another 100% quality control. The tiles and borders are packaged, while the mosaics are initially bonded to fibre glass nets (12" x 12") based on unicolor, color mix or design, depending on customer requirements, with a precisely measured distance between the joints of 2mm before they are packed after the final quality control.

All these elaborate production steps ensure that our products are of consistently top quality This is of particular importance for working with the tiles. For example, wall and floor tiles can be cut, broken and drilled with conventional tile laying tools. A glass cutter is only required in a few exceptional cases fur particularly complex cut forms. The adhesives and joint sealants used in the trade for this purpose may be used for the appropriate rooms.
